Testimonials:
Anthony, 30
What brought me to Dr. Eglauf was more of a chronic condition
than an injury that became more and more debilitating over
time. In addition to being highly sensitive to stress, my
condition attributed to various other ailments: allergies,
sinus infections, chronic-fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia,
depression and anxiety. These were some of the culprits causing
my constant fatigue, nausea, headaches, and bodily pain.
Developing pain in my legs and hip became so great that
I could hardly walk. If I didn’t take abnormally long
amounts of time to stretch, I would get severe headaches.
I usually tried to “sleep” them off, but that
only enabled a lifestyle of more fatigue than activity, even
during my youthful “peak” years. Activities such
as playing sports and exercising only worsened the symptoms.
"Much to my dismay, I sought various types of treatment
and received little relief in return. After physical exams
and blood tests came out perfectly fine, medical doctors
said that there was nothing wrong with me."
In addition to stretching, I tried to alleviate my pain
through frequently massaging myself and cracking my neck
throughout the day. My excessive fatigue and constant complaining
became a source of misunderstanding and frustration for friends
and family. Instead of socializing, playing sports, and doing
other things I enjoyed, I needed to stay home and relax.
Thus, these physical symptoms gradually infused with a growing
depression and anxiety. It became guesswork as to what came
first and later caused the other: the emotional symptoms
(mind) or the physical ones (body).
Much to my dismay, I sought various types of treatment and
received little relief in return. After physical exams and
blood tests came out perfectly fine, medical doctors said
that there was nothing wrong with me. Psychological treatment
helped me to cope with emotional problems, but the physical
symptoms were still there.
Chiropractic care was always vaguely in the back of my mind
as a possible solution and every now and then, I heard good
things about it through family and friends. After trying
nearly everything, I finally pursued chiropractic care.
Before seeing Dr. Eglauf, I went to randomly chosen chiropractors,
but still received little physical relief and insight into
my condition. Once the pain became intolerable, my therapist
highly recommended Dr. Eglauf after being successfully treated
by him himself.
Upon my visit to the Eglauf Welness Center, I was very impressed.
Both Dr. Eglauf and his staff were personable and down-to-earth.
More than that, Dr. Eglauf seemed truly intent on zeroing
in on my mysterious ailment and alleviating my pain.
"Through a thorough explanation and use of charts and models,
Dr. Eglauf made sure I understood the causes and treatment
for the syndrome."
Dr. Eglauf knew his "stuff". Right away,
he determined that I had two characteristics commonly associated
with iliotibial band syndrome:
- I was flat-footed and bow-legged,
which cause a misalignment in my frame.
- Since I didn’t own a car, I traveled on foot more
than the average person, which placed additional stress
on this misalignment.
Through a thorough explanation and use of charts and models,
Dr. Eglauf made sure I understood the causes and treatment
for the syndrome. After he gave my problem a name, I read
about iliotibial band syndrome on my own. His diagnosis was
exactly right. My headaches were mostly due to “referred
pain” or pain carried over from another source on the
body.
He treated me with heat, spinal adjustments, and massage.
In addition, he recommended that I get custom-fitted for
an orthotic which I would place in my shoes.
Dr. Eglauf’s solution hit the nail right on the head.
I noticed a drastic lessening of the pain almost immediately.
Now, about a year after wearing the orthotics, my leg and
hip pain is practically gone and my headaches and bodily
tension have been greatly reduced.
Unfortunately, there is no final cure or solution for iliotibial
band syndrome. Instead, I can effectively manage and reduce
the pain through periodic chiropractic care. On my part,
daily stretching exercises help tremendously. I am content
with the fact that I finally know exactly what I am dealing
with—knowing what the problem is itself is more than
half the solution to successfully treating it.
Thankfully, Dr. Eglauf was astute enough to cut through
years of confusion and give my problem a name that fit. He’s
gradually helped me gain greater productivity and health.
My only regret is not being referred to Dr. Eglauf earlier.
